Alerrandro scored a stoppage-time penalty as Internacional beat Coritiba 1-0 at Beira-Rio on Tuesday in the Brazilian Championship. After the match, the striker said he accepts criticism and intends to stay focused on helping the team.

Alerrandro had faced questions from Internacional supporters, particularly after being blamed for the team’s 1-1 draw with Remo in the 23rd round. He said he recognizes when he has played poorly, but considers criticism valid and does not respond to it.

The forward said he would continue working to contribute with goals, assists and effort for the team. He also explained that he took the decisive penalty because Bruno Henrique regularly encourages him to practice them. With Alan Patrick absent, Bruno Henrique would normally take the kick, Alerrandro said, but he was chosen on this occasion and scored.

The victory lifted Internacional out of the relegation zone and into 16th place with 38 points, sending Grêmio into the bottom four. Alerrandro said Coritiba had studied Internacional closely and marked players individually, but his team managed the match and took its chance when it came.
