Americans headed to polling stations on Tuesday, November 3, for the 2026 midterm elections, which will determine control of Congress for the final two years of President Donald Trump’s term.
In Fairfax, Virginia, voters checked in, filled out ballots and cast their votes as Election Day voting got underway. Polling stations opened at different times across the country because of time zone differences, while some western states had yet to begin voting.
Millions of Americans had already voted before Election Day. Early turnout was on pace to exceed the level recorded in the previous midterm elections.
