Valtteri Bottas was involved in a heavy crash during the Formula 1 Mexico GP on Sunday, causing the race to be red-flagged on lap 44.
The Cadillac driver lost control after a failure in the car's brake system, which led to the front-left suspension breaking. Bottas tried to regain control of the car but could not, and at high speed it struck the protective barrier at the end of Turn 1 in a strong impact.
Bottas remained inside the car for some moments, raising concern. He was attended by rescue workers and was able to get out, complaining only of pain.
The race was interrupted for a short time so the protective barrier could be repaired before it was resumed.
