China’s industrial Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) fell to 52 in October from 52.1 in September, according to data from S&P Global and RatingDog. The reading indicates continued expansion in the manufacturing sector, but at a slower pace.
New export orders rose for the fourth consecutive month. However, the pace of growth weakened to its lowest level in three months, pointing to only modest progress.
Yao Yu, founder of RatingDog, said companies reported stronger demand from customers in Asia, Europe and Africa, although the overall pace of expansion slowed.
