Claudia Baronesa, mother of Brazilian singer MC Gui, paid tribute to her son Gustavo Matheus on the Day of the Dead, recalling his death in 2014. Gustavo was 17 when he died after an overdose at a gathering with friends.
In a message, Baronesa wrote that she wished she could hug him and hear his voice again, adding that time had passed but her love and longing had only grown.
She also remembered Zangão, the family’s Pomeranian, who died in early September. The dog had joined the family shortly after Gustavo’s death. Baronesa said she found some comfort in imagining the two together in heaven.
Gustavo died after a cocaine overdose caused acute respiratory failure. He became unwell during a barbecue with friends and was taken to hospital, but did not survive.
