A driver was arrested after police found three boxes of a tirzepatide-based medication hidden inside a thermal mug during a traffic inspection in Ponte Branca, in Brazil’s Mato Grosso state. The stop took place on the MT-100 highway, about 494 kilometres from Cuiabá, according to the Military Police.
Police said the driver told officers he had travelled from Campo Grande, in Mato Grosso do Sul, and was heading to Barra do Garças, in Mato Grosso. His identity has not been released.
The inspection was part of Operation Divisa Blindada. Officers searching the vehicle and passengers’ luggage found several foreign-origin products that appeared to have come from Paraguay. A closer check of the driver’s belongings uncovered three boxes of a product called TG 15, which contains tirzepatide, inside a blue thermal mug.
Police said the driver was arrested over a possible irregularity involving the import and transport of the medication. He and the seized products were taken to the Civil Police for examination and further action.
