On Sunday, November 1, Military Police (PM) officers in Belo Horizonte arrested two men suspected of drug trafficking following an operation in the Jardim Filadélfia neighborhood. The incident began around 11:00 AM during a patrol in the Morro da Vaca area of the city's Northwest region, where authorities received a report of drug sales occurring on Beco Diamantina.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers approached a man identified as a lookout for the trafficking ring. Two other suspects noticed the police and fled across the rooftops of nearby homes. During the pursuit, one of the men, aged 25, entered a house through the terrace. According to the incident report, the resident stated that the suspect ran through her son's bedroom into the living room, removed his shirt and cap, and sat on the floor hugging a child present in the home.
Police located the 25-year-old still seated with the child. He was ordered to return the child to its mother and submit to a personal search. Officers discovered items on a sofa matching the suspect's attire during the escape, along with a bag containing cash, 20 pins of a substance resembling cocaine, ten balls of material similar to marijuana, and seven portions of a substance resembling crack.
With the homeowner's authorization, police conducted further searches inside the residence. They found an additional bag containing drug-like substances, a precision scale, and a radio communication device on top of a cabinet. The resident expressed distress over the event and requested anonymity due to fear of retaliation.
The 25-year-old suspect admitted to selling drugs at the location, stating he had started his shift at 8:00 AM with an expected end time of 8:00 PM. He noted that his payment depended on the quantity of narcotics sold. The second arrested suspect, aged 32, confessed to acting as a lookout, monitoring people and police presence in the area for a fee of R$100. Authorities confirmed that both men have prior police records related to drug trafficking.
While searching for a third suspect who managed to escape, officers found a firearm wrapped in a plastic bag hidden in a gap between two residences. The weapon was seized. Both arrested men were taken into custody on suspicion of drug trafficking, and the case has been forwarded to the Civil Police.
