A 17-year-old boy who had been missing since Friday was found dead on Sunday at Trapiche Beach in Penha, on the northern coast of Santa Catarina, Brazil. His father went to the area after the GPS on the teenager’s phone showed its last location near the sea.

The father said his son left home at about 10:30 p.m. on Friday, October 30, saying he was going for a walk. When the teenager did not return his calls, his father followed the location indicated by the phone.

At the pier, a fisherman told him that the teenager’s phone, a shirt, a jacket and shoes had been found by the water. Firefighters were called and began searching. During the operation, a member of the public reported seeing what appeared to be a body on the seabed, about three meters below the surface.

The teenager was found dead, with signs of possible drowning. His uncle identified the body at the scene. The Civil Police and Scientific Police were called, and the Military Police also assisted. The teenager’s name has not been released.
