Fátima Bernardes has reflected on her relationship with ex-husband William Bonner, saying that separation does not necessarily have to be traumatic. The presenter discussed their friendship during an interview on the videocast “Bom Dia, Obvious.”

“After 26 years, a great friendship remained,” Bernardes said, adding that she believes the end of a marriage can be difficult, but that staying in one can also be traumatic. She said a respectful separation may make the process easier, while a period of distance can help people disconnect and begin rebuilding their lives.

Bernardes noted that every family has its own dynamic and that former couples do not all remain friends. She said she had no doubt Bonner would agree to appear on “Cá Entre Nós,” the videocast she hosts with their daughter Beatriz Bonemer, both for her sake and for the chance to take part in a project with their daughter. Bernardes described his appearance as relaxed and a natural reflection of their relationship.

Bernardes and Bonner were married for 26 years and announced their separation in August 2016. They have three children: Beatriz, Laura and Vinicius.
