Applications for 50,000 remaining places in Brazil’s Student Financing Fund (Fies) for the second semester of 2026 close on Tuesday, November 3, at 11:59 p.m. Brasília time. Applications are free and must be submitted exclusively through the Acesso Único Portal.

The selection is open to candidates who meet the criteria set by the Ministry of Education. Applicants must have taken the National High School Exam (Enem) in 2010 or later, earned an average score of at least 450 across its five tests, and received a score above zero on the essay. They must also have a gross monthly household income of no more than three minimum wages per person and be able to meet their institution’s minimum attendance requirements during the semester.

Half of the remaining places are reserved for applicants whose per-person household income is no more than half a minimum wage and whose registration in the federal government’s CadÚnico social-program registry was updated by October 8, 2026. Candidates preselected under this provision may request financing for up to 100% of their education charges, subject to the program’s rules.

The Ministry says the selection will include an additional check of whether preselected candidates can keep up with academic activities and complete the semester with sufficient academic performance. The places are for financing in the second semester of 2026 only, and the application period cannot be extended.

The single-call results are scheduled for November 16. Preselected applicants will have November 17 and 18 to validate their application information with their educational institution. Candidates may be called from the waiting list between November 25 and 30.
