Powerful floodwaters swept cars and trucks through Archangelos, on the Greek island of Rhodes, early on Monday, 2 November, after heavy rain hit the village. Some vehicles were left partly submerged as water surged through the streets, carrying rubbish bins and other debris.
Homes were flooded, with local media reporting that Archangelos suffered the worst damage. Dozens of homes and businesses were affected, while the full extent of the damage was still being assessed.
The rain had eased by Monday morning, but meteorologists said further showers and thunderstorms remained possible, raising the risk of additional disruption on the island.
