Adalberto Farias Cabral, a former Pernambuco state deputy and president of the state’s Court of Accounts (TCE-PE), died on Monday at the age of 91. His family said his death followed complications related to Alzheimer’s disease. Cabral was the father of former federal deputy Danilo Cabral.
His wake and burial are scheduled for Tuesday morning at Morada da Paz Cemetery in Paulista, in the Greater Recife area. Born in Surubim, in Pernambuco’s Agreste region, on February 15, 1935, he graduated in agricultural engineering from the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco.
Danilo Cabral announced his father’s death on social media and paid tribute to him, expressing enduring love and gratitude.
Adalberto Farias Cabral was appointed to the TCE-PE in 1988 by then-governor Miguel Arraes de Alencar. He served as the court’s president from 1992 to 1993 and again from 2000 to 2001, and held other leadership roles before retiring in February 2005.
His public service also included three terms as a state deputy, from 1979 to 1982, 1983 to 1986, and 1987 to 1988. He served as Recife’s secretary of supply and secretary of public services, and as president of the city’s Urban Transport Company.
