The German Federal Audit Office has raised serious alarms regarding a planned financial reform for the Autobahn GmbH. According to information from SPIEGEL, the audit body is urging the government not to permit the highway operator to take on independent debt.
This proposed measure is described as a pet project of both the Chancellor and the Minister of Transport. Despite its political backing, the Federal Audit Office has issued an urgent recommendation against allowing the Autobahn GmbH to finance itself through borrowing.
