Actress Giovanna Antonelli, 50, has publicly congratulated her son, Pietro Antonelli, 21, after he took part in a gay kiss scene in the telenovela "Quem Ama Cuida". Pietro plays Felipe in the 9 p.m. production, where his character is in a romantic pairing with Mau Mau, played by João Victor Gonçalves. The scene, which fans had been anticipating, aired on Friday, 30.

On Saturday, 31, Giovanna Antonelli — known for telenovelas such as "O Clone" (2001), "Salve Jorge" (2012) and "Beleza Fatal" (2025) — praised her son's performance. Pietro is the son of her former marriage to fellow actor Murilo Benício. In her message, she described the scene as beautifully made with delicacy and truth, and said watching him grow as an actor, committing himself to the story, filled her with pride.

The actress also complimented João Victor Gonçalves, saying the two actors brought great sensitivity to the scene and formed a strong partnership. She further highlighted the work of director Amora Mautner, describing her as a powerful director with an always careful eye and as a woman she was lucky to have close while working together. Antonelli added that many people recognised themselves in the scene and felt represented and welcomed, and congratulated the pair and the entire team. In the comments, Pietro responded with thanks to his mother for everything and said he loved her very much.

In the storyline, Felipe and Mau Mau are left alone after a dance class, when Felipe admits he is still confused about his feelings but genuinely likes his friend. Mau Mau then declares himself for the second time, and the pair share their first kiss. Afterwards, Mau Mau — the brother of Adriana, played by Letícia Colin — is uncomfortable about hiding his family connection to the protagonist. He decides to reveal it, but is interrupted by the arrival of Patrick, played by Igor Rickli. The couple's plot saw no further developments in Saturday's episode, with new turns expected this week.
