A Gol aircraft headed to Brasília returned to the apron at Congonhas Airport in São Paulo’s South Zone on Friday (30) at the request of police, according to reporting by g1. The incident ended with three men arrested in flagrante on suspicion of involvement in presenting a false police report during the boarding process.

The São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP) said two of the men presented false documents, while the third was allegedly responsible for arranging the falsification. Six people were heard by police in total; the other three were released because there was insufficient evidence indicating their participation in the crimes.

g1 reported that the plane was taxiing for takeoff when the pilot told the control tower that it would have to return to the apron following a request from the Federal Police. In a statement, the SSP said the three men were arrested in flagrante for involvement in presenting a false police report during boarding, but police did not detail the document’s content or the purpose of the alleged falsification. The SSP also said investigations continue to clarify all the facts.

The case gained attention on social media after speculation that the arrested men were members of the team of DJ Arana, a nationally known funk artist. On the day of the incident, the artist posted a story on his social networks saying no shows would be canceled and that the information that three members of his team had been arrested was a misunderstanding. He also said the case was being handled by his legal department.

g1 sought Arana’s team to confirm whether the men had any connection to the artist but received no response by the latest update of the report.

Airport concessionaire Aena said information about the action should be obtained directly from the Federal Police, which was responsible for the incident, and that the action did not cause any impact at the airport. Gol said in a statement that it would not comment on the case and that it was available to cooperate with authorities.

g1 also sought the Federal Police for further details of the incident but received no response by the latest update.
