Passengers in the international area of Lisbon Airport were required to undergo an additional security screening on Tuesday morning after an error during the handling of a flight from Brazil caused confusion and disrupted boarding procedures, according to airport operator ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal.

ANA said the incident involved Menzies, an external handling company, during the arrival of flight AD8752. The additional checks were carried out to ensure compliance with civil aviation security rules.

According to information reported by Observador, a bus carrying passengers from the aircraft brought them to the wrong airport door, allowing them to enter an area they should not have accessed. Because they could have come into contact with passengers preparing to board, those passengers had to be removed from the area and screened again.

The incident follows another security breach at Lisbon Airport in late September, when an emergency door was opened improperly and several arriving passengers entered a departures area where passengers had already passed security checks. The PSP’s National Foreigners and Borders Unit said the four people involved were identified.
