Five people were killed on Monday, November 2, in Israeli strikes and gunfire at several locations across the Gaza Strip, according to Mahmoud Bassal, spokesperson for the civil defence, a rescue organisation operating under the authority of Hamas. He said several other people were wounded.
Three of the deaths occurred in the Khan Younis area in southern Gaza. Bassal said one person was killed by Israeli gunfire, another in a drone strike on a tent sheltering displaced people, and a third in an Israeli drone strike targeting a group near a camp for displaced people.
In northern Gaza, one person was killed in an Israeli strike on a civilian vehicle southwest of Gaza City. A fifth person died from shrapnel caused by a bomb dropped by an Israeli drone in the centre of the territory, according to the same source.
Asked by Agence France-Presse, the Israeli army said it had “struck several terrorists” in the areas concerned and added that it would issue a detailed statement “soon.”
Israel and Hamas have both accused the other of violating the ceasefire that took effect on October 10, 2025, after two years of war. More than 1,550 Palestinians have been killed since the truce, according to Gaza’s health ministry, which operates under Hamas authority and whose figures the United Nations considers reliable.
