Jordan’s tourism industry continues to feel the effects of wars in the region that have disrupted travel since autumn 2023. Although visitor numbers have begun to recover since June 2026, the improvement has not been consistent across the country.

At the Dead Sea Spa hotel on Jordan’s coast, director Nasser Tayeh says the property is operating far below normal levels. Despite the ongoing high season, room occupancy is between 15% and 20%, and he believes comparable hotels nearby are facing a similar situation.

The resort’s beach, which is lined with around a dozen upscale hotels, remains sparsely populated. A small group of Argentine tourists was seen applying Dead Sea mud or resting beneath parasols after making a brief trip to Jordan. They had cancelled a planned spring visit following the war launched by the United States and Israel against Iran on February 28, during which high-intensity fighting lasted five weeks.

The situation has left tourism professionals hoping for greater stability in the region so that the sector can resume its recovery.
