A 26-year-old man was arrested in São Pedro dos Ferros, in the Zona da Mata region of Minas Gerais, on Monday, November 2, following an investigation into assaults against his 23-year-old former partner, according to the Minas Gerais Military Police (PMMG).
The woman told officers that the assault took place on Thursday, October 29. She reported threats and physical violence that caused serious injuries, including the loss of teeth.
After receiving further information from the victim, prosecutors sought a preventive arrest warrant. Police said the arrest took place about 48 hours after the request, following an anonymous tip that led officers to the suspect in São Pedro dos Ferros.
After a medical evaluation, the man was taken to the Civil Police in Ponte Nova. The Minas Gerais Civil Police said he was then transferred to the prison system, where he remains at the disposal of the courts.
