A 37-year-old man identified by the initials J.V.S.M. was taken into custody in Teresina this Tuesday, November 3, suspected of threatening his former partner and violating urgent protective measures. The incident occurred in the Vila Irmã Dulce neighborhood in the southern zone of the city. According to the Civil Police, the suspect had been arrested less than a month prior for domestic violence against the same victim.
Authorities reported that the man made dozens of phone calls and sent numerous messages containing insults and death threats to his ex-partner. Notably, some of these threats were issued while the woman was giving testimony at the Specialized Women's Police Station (Deam) in Teresina.
The suspect had previously been arrested on October 19 for threats and resistance. Following a custody hearing, he was granted provisional liberty conditioned to wearing an electronic ankle monitor, a prohibition on contacting the victim, and maintaining a minimum distance of 300 meters from her. However, investigations indicate that these judicial determinations were violated less than 24 hours after his release.
Based on evidence submitted by the Civil Police, the judiciary revoked his provisional liberty and ordered preventive detention on October 28, citing risks to the victim's physical and psychological integrity, according to the Piauí Public Security Secretariat (SSP-PI). Following this latest arrest, the man was processed for legal procedures and will remain at the disposal of the courts.
