A 26-year-old man was arrested on Sunday afternoon on suspicion of attempted homicide after a man was beaten in front of a supermarket in the center of Tarabai, in São Paulo state, according to the police report.
Military Police were called at around 11:40 a.m. after reports that a person was being assaulted on Rua Tiradentes. When officers arrived, they found the 28-year-old victim unconscious on the ground with heavy bleeding from his face.
The victim was initially treated by an ambulance and taken to the emergency hospital in Pirapozinho. Because of the severity of his injuries, he was transferred to the intensive care unit at the Hospital Regional in Presidente Prudente, where he remained hospitalized as of the latest update in the report.
The suspect was located by police near the scene of the attack. According to the police report, he had a prior police record. The case was registered as attempted homicide at the Civil Police station in Tarabai and will be investigated.
