A man suffered a lacerated ear and other serious injuries after being attacked by two men in the early hours of Sunday, November 1, in the Vila do Ipê Amarelo neighborhood of Contagem, within the Belo Horizonte metropolitan region. According to the Military Police (PM), the victim was struck with an iron bar and bitten on the ear by one of the aggressors, a 50-year-old man. Both suspects have since been taken into custody.
Police reports indicate that the conflict between the parties originated on Saturday, November 31, escalating into physical violence on Sunday. The victim's mother stated that her son left home around 1:00 AM to walk through the neighborhood. As he passed a bar hosting a gathering, he was pursued by two men living nearby. Although the victim attempted to flee toward an area near electricity towers, he was caught by the suspects.
During the assault, the attackers used an iron bar against him. The 50-year-old suspect, identified as the owner of the bar, bit the victim's ear, causing a severe injury. The mother reported being alerted by a resident and finding her son lying on the ground in critical condition. She provided immediate aid and transported him to the Vargem das Flores Emergency Care Unit (UPA) for initial treatment.
The victim was subsequently transferred to the Municipal Hospital of Contagem, where he remained under care in a delicate state with a fracture, according to police records. Following the attack, one of the suspects allegedly went to the victim's residence armed with a machete, threatening to kill him and intimidating family members. The victim's sister recounted that the man aggressively entered the backyard and waved the weapon through the fence while making threats.
Police located this suspect near the property. Although he initially refused to stop, he was approached and arrested. Officers noted signs of intoxication on the man, who claimed he attacked the victim because the latter had allegedly tried to kill him previously. The second suspect, also 50 years old, was found at a commercial establishment where he worked. Despite denying involvement in the assault, he was also issued an arrest warrant.
The victim's mother informed police that her son had been involved in a prior violent incident with the 50-year-old suspect, during which he reportedly cut the man's neck. She stated that since that event, the suspect had made threats of revenge. The incident has been registered as attempted homicide and forwarded to the Second State Central of the Digital Duty Station.
