The match between Tenerife and Andorra in Spain’s second division was suspended on Monday after Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel lost consciousness following a collision with opposing goalkeeper Jesús Owono.
The incident occurred in the seventh minute of stoppage time, with the score tied 2-2. Owono had left his area to clear a long ball when his knee struck De Miguel in the chest near the centre circle.
De Miguel fell to the ground and remained motionless. Players from both teams immediately called for medical assistance, while Owono was shown a straight red card. Medical staff treated the Tenerife player on the pitch for more than five minutes before he was taken to hospital by ambulance.
According to reports from several Spanish media outlets, De Miguel suffered cardiac arrest during the journey and was resuscitated by emergency personnel. He was reported to be in stable condition but remained unconscious in the emergency department of Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria.
