Although 'Two and a Half Men' officially concluded in February 2015, the series has recently returned to the media spotlight following public comments by Holland Taylor regarding salary injustices. Taylor stated on the 'Alchemy with Anthony Mason' podcast that she was never paid well, noting her salary remained stagnant despite four Emmy nominations. She revealed she earned approximately $75,000 per episode, a figure that reportedly contributed to her decision to leave the show after its sixth season.

These remarks sparked a viral discussion on Instagram, where an anonymous user commented on Taylor's post with specific salary figures for various cast members. The user claimed that while Charlie Sheen earned between $1 million and $1.8 million per episode and Jon Cryer made $575,000, Melanie Lynskey received between $200,000 and $300,000 by the end of the series. This comment, which garnered over 1,800 likes, prompted an immediate response from Lynskey, who took to the comments section to correct the misinformation.

Lynskey clarified that she appeared in only 63 of the show's 262 episodes and that her earnings were a fraction of the circulating figures. She explained that she started at $20,000 per episode with a 5% increase each season, noting that more than half of her episodes were filmed during the first two seasons. According to the actress, her highest salary was approximately $43,000 for an episode in the final season. She further emphasized that this amount is before agent commissions, management fees, and taxes, meaning she effectively took home only about 50% of the gross figure.

The actress expressed gratitude for the work, which allowed her to pay her mortgage and pursue independent film projects when she was 25 years old. However, she firmly rejected the notion that she made millions, calling the idea 'totally ridiculous.' Lynskey stated that while she is grateful for the financial stability the role provided, she feels compelled to speak out against false information, especially since Holland Taylor has already addressed her own pay issues. She praised Taylor as a legend who deserved significant raises.

Following Lynskey's clarification, the user who made the initial claim apologized, admitting the figures were taken from unverified internet sources and acknowledging that Lynskey was one of their favorite characters. Lynskey accepted the apology but reiterated that while the money was not millions, it was a massive help at the time, allowing her to buy a house after a few years. The actress is currently starring in 'Yellowjackets,' with the fourth and final season set to premiere on SkyShowtime on November 20.
