A one-month-old baby was saved by a military police officer after choking during breastfeeding on Saturday afternoon (31) in Vitória da Conquista, in southwestern Bahia, according to the Military Police.
The baby's family members sought help at the guard post of the Southwest Region Policing Command (CPR-SO) after noticing the child was choking. When they arrived, the newborn was not reacting, the police said.
Soldier Filipe Rocha, from the 92nd Independent Military Police Company (CIPM Rural), recognized the seriousness of the situation and immediately began first-aid maneuvers to clear the child's airways. After the procedures, the baby expelled the milk causing the choking, began breathing again and regained consciousness.
Following the emergency treatment, a Military Police team took the newborn to Esaú Matos Pediatric Hospital for medical evaluation. According to the police, the child remained out of danger.
