More than 220,000 people attended at least one of the 200 activities held during this year’s Fires i Festes de Sant Narcís in Girona, according to the figures released after the festival. Concerts and traditional cultural events were the main attractions in an edition that recorded record attendance.
The drone show, one of the new features this year, attracted more than 10,000 people to the La Copa esplanade. Other events that drew large crowds included the castells performance featuring the Marrecs de Salt, Capgrossos de Mataró and Minyons de Terrassa; the Fal·lera Gironina giants’ parade; a sardana performance by the Principal de la Bisbal orchestra in Plaça del Vi; the correfoc by the Diables de l’Onyar; the Marrecs de Salt’s raising of a four-person pillar at Girona Cathedral; the giants’ gathering; and the fireworks display that ended ten days of celebrations.
Music was another major draw. Concerts by Els Amics de les Arts, Non Servium, 31 FAM, Miki Núñez, Queralt Lahoz and DJ Calvinss at the La Copa stage each attracted more than 3,000 people. Performances by Joan Miquel Oliver, Mazoni and El Petit de Cal Eril at Parc del Migdia also exceeded that figure individually.
The festival’s museum open days were also well received. More than 6,000 people visited the Museu d’Història de Girona, around 1,000 went to the Museu d’Història dels Jueus, and more than 2,200 visited the Museu del Cinema.
