A multi-vehicle crash on the A-2 motorway near Sant Andreu de la Barca, in Barcelona province, left 20 people injured at around 6:30 p.m. on Monday. One of the injured people was reported to be in serious condition.
Several passenger cars and a truck transporting a large beam were involved, according to the Generalitat de Catalunya Fire and Rescue Service, the Catalan Traffic Service and the Medical Emergency System (SEM), which reported the incident in posts on X.
The SEM deployed 13 emergency units, while the fire service sent nine crews. Firefighters also freed four people who had become trapped inside one of the vehicles.
The crash left only one lane of the A-2 open to traffic.
