police forces have executed Nationwide raids targeting the residences of suspected left-wing extremists in several German federal states. The operation, led by the Saxony State Criminal Police Office (LKA) and the Dresden Public Prosecutor's Office, focuses on allegations that the suspects formed a criminal organization. Authorities arrested five individuals during the searches, which took place in Zwickau, Dresden, Leipzig, Saalfeld, Bremen, and Hamburg.
Twelve men, aged between 18 and 36, are accused of forming a communist group in 2022 under the name "Kollektiv Zwickau." According to investigators, the group aimed to act nationwide against right-wing radical and inhumane structures. The suspects are alleged to have planned for years to achieve their objectives through criminal acts, including bodily injury and property damage.
During the execution of the search warrants, one man attacked the police officers involved and was subsequently arrested. Arrest warrants were already outstanding for four other men, bringing the total number of detainees to five. All five are scheduled to be brought before an investigative judge. As part of the operation, the LKA secured data carriers and mobile phones as evidence.
The Saxon Ministry of the Interior identifies "Kollektiv Zwickau" as a communist group with Marxist-Leninist influences and a member of the nationwide association "Rote Jugend Deutschland." According to the Saxon Office for the Protection of the Constitution, the group regularly declares its commitment to communism through Instagram posts, participation in demonstrations, and the use of specific symbols. The organization is reportedly pursuing the goal of establishing a revolutionary communist unity party.
