A Learjet 60 crashed Sunday in Cresthaven, in Palm Beach County, Florida, according to the report. The aircraft went down in a residential area, and an explosion followed, producing a fireball. All nine people on board died.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy called the crash "a horrible tragedy" in a post on X and said, "The nine people on board died." The Federal Aviation Administration said nine people were on board, according to a post by Collin Rugg on X.

The jet had departed from Austin, Texas, and was headed to the Bahamas. The crash left a crater in the residential area where it came down, a few miles from Mar-a-Lago, the resort owned by President Donald Trump.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue asked the public to avoid the area. It said Military Trail between Cresthaven and 10th Avenue N was closed to all traffic and described the incident as extended.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. It was not immediately clear who owned the Learjet 60 or who was on board.
