Military Police officers arrested a 34-year-old painter on Sunday night in the Jardim Primavera neighborhood, in the western area of Boa Vista, Roraima. The man was wanted under an outstanding arrest warrant related to domestic violence against a woman.
According to the police, officers were patrolling Ursa Maior Street near Flamboian Street when they saw the man leaning against a wall. After noticing the patrol car, he turned away, placed an object at his waist and walked behind a vehicle before stopping near a group of people.
The officers suspected that he could be carrying a weapon or concealing an object and conducted a search. They found only a card, a set of keys and a lighter.
A check of public security databases then confirmed the outstanding warrant. The man was arrested and taken to a police station. Police said the area has a recurring history of incidents involving gunshots, drug trafficking and the sale of illegal goods.
