Paul Bettany said he injured his eye while filming episodes of “VisionQuest,” the Marvel series in which he reprises his role as Vision. Appearing on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” the actor said he burst around 10 blood vessels while acting out a scene in which he pretended a device was affecting his brain.
Bettany said he had exaggerated his performance and described the experience as a lesson that “less is more.” He also noted that the scene had been filmed in full, suggesting that removing the affected portion would have been costly for the production.
“VisionQuest” is a spin-off of “WandaVision” and follows the android as he embarks on a journey of self-discovery after the events of that series. Bettany has played Vision in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since “Iron Man” in 2008 and also voiced Tony Stark’s artificial intelligence, J.A.R.V.I.S.
The eight-episode series premiered on Disney+ on October 13. Episodes are being released weekly, with two arriving on November 3 and the final two scheduled for November 10.
