The Pavia Prosecutor’s Office has asked for Andrea Sempio to stand trial over the aggravated murder of Chiara Poggi, who was killed in Garlasco on August 13, 2007. Prosecutors maintain the aggravating circumstances and allege that the killing was carried out with cruelty and hatred.

Alberto Stasi, Poggi’s boyfriend, was definitively sentenced to 16 years in prison for the murder. The Court of Cassation issued its ruling on December 12, 2015.

Sempio has responded that his innocence will be demonstrated.
