Francisco José dos Santos, a 51-year-old sublieutenant with the Military Police of Piauí, died after suffering a heart attack at around 11:30 a.m. on Monday in Buriti dos Lopes, in the north of the state.
Colleagues took Santos to the Dr. Mariano Lucas de Sousa State Hospital. Medical staff attempted to revive him, but he died at the hospital.
Santos served with the 31st Military Police Battalion. He joined the force on September 1, 2000, and had spent more than 26 years in police service.
The battalion commander expressed sorrow over his death and offered condolences to Santos’s family and friends, describing him as a fellow officer who had dedicated his life to protecting the people of Piauí.
