A private jet with nine people on board crashed on Sunday in a residential neighborhood of Palm Beach County, Florida, setting off a large explosion, according to reports. The aircraft was identified as a Learjet 60.

Citing Fox, the report said the plane came down at an estimated speed of 32,000 feet per minute. The cause of the crash remains unknown while authorities investigate. The jet reportedly went down only a few kilometers from Mar-a-Lago. It had departed from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was headed for the Bahamas.

Video of the accident showed the aircraft plunging and then exploding into a huge fireball near a main road, just feet from vehicles that were moving through the area. The impact left a large crater in the pavement, with flames rising near an electricity pole.

The images showed chunks of pavement engulfed in flames as people gathered, expressing shock at an impact that occurred just meters from homes. A thick column of black smoke rose from the crater and drifted among palm trees on what the report described as a stormy day.
