The São José dos Campos airport in São Paulo state has reported a 19.8% increase in passenger numbers for the period spanning January to September 2026 when compared to the same timeframe in 2025. According to data from the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) compiled by the Ministry of Tourism, a total of 29,757 passengers passed through the terminal during the first nine months of this year. This figure represents an increase of 4,924 travelers compared to the 24,833 recorded in 2025.
This local performance aligns with record-breaking figures for Brazilian domestic aviation. Between January and September 2026, 76.8 million passengers traveled on national flights, marking a 3.4% rise from the 74.3 million counted during the same months in 2025. The Ministry of Tourism noted that this is the first time since the historical series began in 2000 that domestic passenger numbers have exceeded 76 million within the first nine months of a year.
International aviation also achieved record levels during this period. Brazil recorded 22.7 million international passengers between January and September 2026, up from 21.1 million in the corresponding period of the previous year, representing a 7.2% increase. When combining domestic and international flights, the country moved a total of 99.5 million passengers in the first nine months of 2026. This volume is 4.2% higher than the 95.5 million registered in the same period of 2025. The Ministry of Tourism attributes these positive results to the growth of the sector and the expansion of air connectivity across the country.
