The collective fortune of Spain's 100 richest individuals has surpassed the €300 billion mark, representing a 16.1% growth in the last year. This data comes from the new Forbes Spain ranking, which confirms Amancio Ortega as the wealthiest person in the country. The 90-year-old founder of the Inditex group, owner of brands such as Zara, Massimo Dutti, and Bershka, has increased his personal wealth by 13.9%, pushing his total assets beyond €125 billion.
Ortega's daughter, Sandra Ortega, maintains her position at second place with an estimated fortune of €11.5 billion. Rounding out the top three is Juan Roig, president of the Mercadona supermarket chain, who climbed to third place with a net worth of €9.8 billion. Roig recorded the highest annual increase among Spain's major fortunes, rising by 24%.
The banking sector has been identified as one of the primary drivers behind this growth in large fortunes. Among the new entries is Ana Botin, president of Banco Santander, who appears at the 97th position with €700 million. The ranking also highlights an increase in female representation, with women now occupying 26 spots on the list. Their combined wealth totals €64.7 billion, reflecting a 14% increase.
