A judicial inquiry for attempted murder against a person entrusted with a public service mission has been opened following a violent attack at a kindergarten in Nice. The incident occurred on Monday, resulting in the assault of the school's principal and a teacher, leaving the city in a state of shock.

Prosecutor Damien Martinelli confirmed the nature of the investigation in a statement released late Monday. According to reports from local media outlets Nice Matin and BFMTV Côte d'Azur, the suspect is a mother born in 1990 who was already under judicial supervision. She had been flagged for radicalization and was subject to house arrest at the time of the incident.

The woman's name reportedly appeared in the FSPRT database, which tracks reports related to the prevention of terrorist radicalization. Authorities apprehended her near the Clément Roassal kindergarten where the violence took place. The prosecutor's office revealed that she has a prior criminal record, having been convicted twice by the courts, including for violent offenses involving a firearm in 2019. Searches are currently underway to locate the weapon used in the attack.
