The Tenerife-Andorra match in Spain’s second division was suspended in the 97th minute after Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel suffered a serious blow to the head during a collision with Andorra goalkeeper Owono at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium.

De Miguel was chasing a long ball when Owono came out of goal and struck him. The Tenerife player fell to the ground and appeared to lose consciousness, prompting visible concern among his teammates and those around him.

According to information reported by radio station Cope, De Miguel suffered cardiorespiratory arrest. Medical staff reportedly restored his pulse through cardiopulmonary resuscitation, after which he was breathing independently but remained unconscious. He was initially stabilised at the stadium before being taken to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria.

No further medical update had been issued by the hospital at the time of the report.

The referee sent Owono off with a direct red card and stopped the match with the score at 2-2, leaving the remaining two minutes of added time unplayed. The goalkeeper had started to leave for the dressing rooms but returned after seeing De Miguel motionless on the pitch.

The match had already featured tension, including an earlier dismissal. The post-match press conferences were also cancelled as spectators left the stadium while a medical ambulance transported the Tenerife player to hospital.

The fixture had originally been scheduled for Sunday but was postponed by one day because of a heavy-rain alert on the island.
