Russia and Ukraine are due to hold US-mediated talks in Abu Dhabi on November 10 and 11, US envoy Steve Witkoff announced Monday. The discussions come as peace negotiations, stalled since the beginning of the year, are set to resume after Russia said in late October that it was ready to restart them.

Witkoff said the agenda would include postwar security arrangements, de-escalation, humanitarian efforts and further steps toward peace. The most recent trilateral meeting involving Russian, Ukrainian and US delegations took place in Geneva in mid-February, but did not produce a settlement, with both sides holding to their conditions.

Witkoff also said US negotiators would travel to Brussels during the week to meet representatives from France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the European Union and NATO. The discussions are expected to focus on security guarantees for Ukraine.

Separately, Ukraine said Monday that Russian strikes on a school where humanitarian aid was being distributed had killed at least 26 people. The report came as Moscow resumed fighting and bombardments in the neighboring southern Kherson region following a rare local truce negotiated to allow the evacuation of Olechky, which is under Russian occupation.
