US special envoy Steve Witkoff says representatives of the United States, Russia and Ukraine will meet in Abu Dhabi next Tuesday for two days of talks. It will be the first meeting in the three-country format since February, as efforts to end the war in Ukraine have stalled.
Witkoff said the agenda would include postwar security arrangements, de-escalation, humanitarian assistance and the next steps toward peace.
US envoys are also expected to meet this week in Brussels with representatives from Germany, France, the United Kingdom, NATO and the European Union. Those discussions are set to address security guarantees for Ukraine, Europe’s postwar security order and reconstruction.
Ukraine has called for European countries to be included in the new negotiations. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said last week in The Hague that he hoped a way could be found to involve them.
The diplomatic efforts are taking place as Russia continues attacks on Ukrainian cities and energy facilities. Kyiv and its European allies are also concerned that US President Donald Trump is moving closer to Moscow in the conflict.
