The US Supreme Court has rejected the Trump administration’s request to require California to set aside 20,000 mail-in ballots over concerns that some may have been sent to people who are not US citizens. No dissent was recorded.
The court issued an unsigned order without explaining its decision. The administration’s lawyers appealed to the Supreme Court on the same day, after a federal appeals court rejected their argument that California officials should seize the ballots for additional verification.
