The United States will mediate technical-level talks between Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi on November 10 and 11, US envoy Steve Witkoff said. The discussions are intended to advance President Donald Trump’s stated goal of ending the war, according to Witkoff’s post on X.
Witkoff said the agenda would include postwar security arrangements, de-escalation, humanitarian measures and further steps toward peace. He also said US negotiators would meet representatives of France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the European Union and NATO in Brussels this week to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine.
Separately, the multinational force for Ukraine, led by France and the UK, is due to hold its first large-scale exercise in Poland from November 9 to 22. The exercise, called “Koalicja,” will test the participating forces’ ability to deploy and operate together, according to a joint announcement from London and Paris.
Around 2,800 troops from ten countries are expected to take part: Belgium, Estonia, France, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, the UK, Spain and Sweden.
