A Wizz Air passenger flight en route from London to Sofia made an emergency landing in Budapest following a bomb threat. Hungarian Defense Minister Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi confirmed on Facebook that the aircraft was diverted to the Hungarian capital after the threat was received while the plane was traversing Bosnian airspace.

In response to the situation, Hungarian fighter jets were scrambled to escort the commercial airliner from its entry into Hungarian airspace until it touched down safely in Budapest. Upon arrival, both the aircraft and its passengers underwent thorough security screenings as reported by Wizz Air to the news portal 24.hu.

The method by which the bomb threat was communicated remained unclear at the time of the incident. However, all security checks conducted in Budapest were successfully completed without any threats or explosives being discovered, according to the Bulgarian News Agency BTA citing Wizz Air.

Following the clearance, the flight resumed its journey and landed safely at Sofia's international airport, as reported by the Bulgarian broadcaster BNT.
