Hundreds of young demonstrators gathered outside Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate on Saturday as part of a nationwide day of protests organised by the “GenZ regelt!” movement, whose name translates as “Gen Z will sort it out!”.

The Berlin rally was one of demonstrations planned in more than 30 German cities, including Frankfurt and Cologne. The mobilisation followed student protests in several European countries and was held in solidarity with those actions.

Some protesters carried banners demanding the resignation of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron. Others chanted anti-capitalist and anti-fascist slogans, while speakers addressed the crowd.
