The Mário Gatti Network, which manages municipal hospitals in Campinas, São Paulo, has authorized an emergency hiring contract valued at R$1,568,340. This measure targets the provision of pediatric intensive care and pediatric surgery services specifically for the Mário Gattinho unit. The authorization was published in the Official Gazette on Tuesday, November 3, and will be executed without a standard public bidding process.
According to city officials, this emergency hiring is essential to cover medical shifts following the departure of tenured doctors due to retirement or resignation. The contract is scheduled to commence in November with an initial duration of up to six months, which may be extended for an additional six-month period if necessary. Municipal administration estimates that between 45 and 60 medical hours will be contracted per month, depending on the specific needs of the shifts.
The company selected to provide these services is Sanklech Serviços Médicos Ltda. The Mário Gatti Network reported that eight companies submitted proposals for the contract, with the chosen firm offering the lowest price. Sérgio Bisogni, the president-director of the institution, signed the authorization on October 29, confirming that all administrative and legal procedures were followed.
The network explained that this emergency hiring will remain in effect until a regular bidding process is completed, which is expected to take place between late 2026 and early 2027. The current tender process is still in the price research phase. Authorities justified the waiver of the standard bidding requirement by classifying the service as essential, ensuring continuity of care while the definitive selection process is finalized.
