According to a new electoral projection by CNN, Democrats are poised to secure control of the U.S. House of Representatives, marking a significant victory that would grant the party the authority to lead a broad oversight agenda targeting the Trump administration.
Current estimates from the network show that Democrats have won 113 seats in the House so far, while the Republican Party has secured 62. Among the seats claimed by Democrats, six represent flips against the party of U.S. President Donald Trump.
This electoral outcome places Hakeem Jeffries on a path to make history as the first Black Speaker of the House. However, he must still secure the position through a full chamber vote once the new Congress officially takes office.
