Rodrigo Santos, identified as a leader of drug trafficking operations within the Chapadão Complex in northern Rio de Janeiro, died on Tuesday morning following a confrontation with the Military Police. The suspect, widely known by the nicknames 'Pará' and 'Parazão', was found shot after an exchange of fire during an ongoing police operation.

According to the Military Police, the incident occurred under the scope of Operation Barricada Zero. This initiative aims to suppress cargo and vehicle thefts, recover stolen or cloned automobiles, and remove barricades erected by criminals. Officers acting in the Via Light community, also located within Chapadão, were met with gunfire from suspects upon arrival.

During the confrontation, 'Parazão' was hit and subsequently found wounded. Police seized a battery charger, five rounds of ammunition, a drone detector, and a 9mm pistol with its serial number suppressed from his person. Although he was transported to the Carlos Chagas State Hospital in Marechal Hermes for treatment, Santos did not survive his injuries.

Investigations by the police indicate that Santos was one of the leaders of the Chapadão Complex and had involvement in robberies in the region. At the time of his death, there were four outstanding arrest warrants issued against him. The operation remains active, with authorities implementing planning and security measures designed to minimize impacts on the local population, including prior communication with regional health, education, and transportation services.
