Four people died and two others were injured in a serious traffic accident on Monday morning, November 2, at kilometer 197 of the BR-277 highway connecting Palmeira and Irati in the Campos Gerais region of Paraná. According to information from the Fire Department, the collision occurred around 8:00 AM involving a vehicle originating from Curitiba.
The accident happened when the driver of the Curitiba car completed an overtaking maneuver and attempted to return to the right lane. The vehicle spun out on the road surface and collided with another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. This second vehicle, which came from Araucária and was carrying three people, struck the side of the first car with its front end.
Among the four fatalities were one man, two women, and a child. The names and ages of the victims have not been released. In the opposing vehicle from Araucária, two passengers sustained minor injuries, while the third person emerged without apparent physical lesions but reported feeling pain.
Firefighters noted that although it was not raining at the time of the crash, the road surface remained wet due to rainfall earlier in the morning. Following the collision, the concessionaire responsible for the highway implemented a stop-and-go traffic system and partially blocked the route. By 11:00 AM, the entire highway was closed to facilitate the removal of the vehicles, with partial traffic resuming by noon.
