Heavy rain across São Paulo state on Sunday, November 1, and Monday, November 2, sent floodwater into the Asilo dos Avós nursing home in Campos Novos Paulista, according to the Civil Defense agency. The facility is in the Capão Grande neighborhood. No injuries were reported, and the building received cleaning and maintenance work.
No one in the city was reported injured, left homeless or forced to leave their home. The rain did, however, cause erosion at points along a rural road serving the Água da Santa Rosa, Água do Manjolini and Água da Lídia neighborhoods. Municipal public works teams were expected to clear the route using machinery.
For Tuesday, November 3, weather service Climatempo forecast a reduction in unstable conditions across parts of the Southeast, particularly inland São Paulo, while the state's far south remained more prone to storms. Brazil's National Institute of Meteorology issued a potential-danger warning for storms across the state, citing rainfall of 20 to 30 millimeters per hour or up to 50 millimeters in a day, wind gusts of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour, and the possibility of hail.
