The members of the Goncourt Academy marked the announcement of the 2026 prize with a gastronomic lunch at Drouant, the Art Deco restaurant in Paris’s 2nd arrondissement. The award went to Philippe Jaenada for *L’Inconnue du quai de Javel*.
The restaurant has hosted the Goncourt Prize ceremony since 1914. After the winner was announced from the top of its Ruhlmann staircase, the academy’s ten members gathered in their reserved salon for a meal created for the occasion by chef Romain Van Thienen.
The menu was also served to Drouant’s other diners that day. The article describes it as spanning land and sea, with tourteau crab, lobster and pheasant among its highlights.
